MAY

May 23-25th - Rockledge Memorial Member/Member * Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

This is a 36 hole two man best ball event.  Your team must play two 18 hole rounds on two of the three days that this tournament is held over Memorial Day Weekend.  Teams must declare with the Pro Shop that they are playing a Memorial round before teeing off.  The gross and net with the winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House. Low gross and low net winners qualify for the Tournament of Champions on October 11th

Pro Shop One Day Events:  Will also be held each day.  Sign up at the Starters desk.

  • Plan to play with another member/member twosome, or club member who will attest your score.

  • Sign up for a Tee Time on the Rockledge Tee Time system for your group.

  • Check In for Play and notify the Pro Shop that you are playing a Member/Member round.  Tournament Fees and any round fees must be paid by credit card.

  • Tournament Fee: $10.00 per person

  • Bring your own pre-printed Scorecard.  Clearly print First and Last Names, Enter Gross Scores, Play is from the Gold Tees, All players should sign the card, Turn in your card to the Pro Shop at the end of the round

  • All play will be from the Gold Tees.

  • Bunkers - Sand Penalty Areas:  Lift, Clean & Place within 1 foot of where the ball was.  Smooth sand as necessary.

  • Drop Zones have been painted on most holes.  Other wise play as noted in the Local Rules.  Peer review to clarify.

  • Prizes are awarded for Gross and Net Teams.  
    The Member/Member play will be at 85% of handicap per new USGA rules.

  • Results will be posted on the News & Results / Event Results page.  Click on the trophy icon to see the results in Golf Genius.

May 31st - ABCD Best Ball (RC)

This is a regular team ACBD one best ball event. Each team will consist of one A, B, C and D player from a blind draw.   Each player plays their own ball, with one best ball gross and net counting for the team score.

  • With your registration we need to know the tee you are playing.  If you do not provide a tee location of your choosing, we will assign you one.  Gold, White or Red handicaps/stroke allocation will be calculated off the tee you are playing from.  Tee selections CANNOT be changed the morning of the event as there will be no one available to reprint scorecards.

  • Your handicap index as of the day before the event will be used for handicap purposes. 

  • Scorecards with player’s names and strokes will be sent out with the starting times for you to print out and bring with you the day of the event.  SCORECARDS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE GOLF COURSE. 

  • Tournament Fee:  $5.00

  • Prizes are awarded for Gross & Net
     

JUNE

June 6th - Individual Stroke Play - 5 Flights by Handicap - Gross & Net

Based on your handicap, you will be put into one of three flights, and play for Gross & Net score.

  • Prizes:  Each Flight Gross & Net; 1st, 2nd & 3rd

  • Handicap:  95%

 

June 13th –  Member/Member Team Best Ball  (previously Mini Ramble)

Due to the overwhelming sign-up of 100 members/50 teams, holding a Mini Ramble with teams changing every 6 holes, complexities impacting Covid-19 restrictions and pace of play, we had to change this event format.  Signed up teams will be paired with another team, and tee times will be assigned.  The tournament will be set with three flights based on the teams' combined handicap.  

  • Sign up in advance.

  • Tournament Fee: $ 5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for team Best Ball Gross & Net.

  • Tee Times will be assigned.

  • Handicap = 85% of Course Handicap

  • Standard Gold Tees - Unless otherwise requested.  You must notify the Golf Shop by Wednesday 5 PM if you will to play from  a different tee.

    • If you are in Flight 1 or 2 - both members must play from the Gold or Blue tees to be eligible for Gross prizes.​

    • If you are in Flight 3 - both members must play from the Gold or White tees to be eligible for Gross prizes.

June 20th – ABCD Aggregate Quota & 1 Best Ball Gross (RC)

This is a “NEW FORMAT” event for the Men's Club. Aggregate quote for the assigned ABCD team with create the Net Event. One best ball Gross will also be played. Quotas are established for each player and team. Quotes are created off the 2 point per hole and modified Stableford Point System (0-DB+, 1-B, 2-P, 4-Br, 6-E, 8-DE+). Quota Example: 18 hdcp – 36 Pt Basis, Quota for the player is 36 minus 18 handicap for a Quota of 18. Add all 4 players quota to create team quota. For once in golf, highest point total wins. ABCD will be a blind draw and tee times assigned.

This is an 18 hole Member/Member Best Ball flighted Gross and Net.

JULY

July 3-5th - Sherman Memorial *Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

The second major event of the year, this is an individual 36 hole stroke play event. Players must declare with the Pro Shop that they are playing their Sherman Memorial round before teeing off. Play two 18 hole rounds on two of the three days of the Independence Day weekend. The gross and net with the winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

Low gross and low net winners qualify for the Tournament of Champions on October 11th

July 3-5th - Three One Day Member/Member Events (Fri, Sat, Sun)

Pick your own partner for these best ball gross/net events.  Each day is a separate event.

    you must play with at least one other RMC member to attest your score)

  • Tournament *Fee $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net Teams

July 11-12th - SR, Super-SR, Legends & Masters Club Championship *Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC) (B)

36 holes of stroke play make up this Club Championship major event.  Prizes are awarded for gross and net.  Players drive from their assigned level tees. Seniors age 50-59, Super Seniors age 60-69. Legends age 70-79, Masters 80+. Each flight winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

  • Winners of each flight qualify for the Tournament of Champions on October 11th

  • Tournament Fee: None

  • Prizes are awarded for each flight.

  • Tee Times will be assigned and posted on Golf Genius

July 18th - ABCD 4 Ball - Best 2 Balls  *Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

Each team is made up off four player in a blind draw be create the ABCD groups.   Each player plays their own ball, with the two best balls gross and net counting for the team score.

 

July 26th - Club Championship Qualifier (For Championship Flight Only)

The Championship Flight will play a match play format which includes the 2018 Club Champion and seven other players that qualify through this 18 hole medal play qualifier.  This is the ONLY way to qualify to play in the Championship Flight.  If you play in the qualifier and do not qualify for the Championship Flight, you may play in the Club Championship in the A, B, C, or D Flights, as determined by your handicap (see August 1-2 info below).

AUGUST

 

August 1st-2nd - Club Championship *Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC) (B)

Last year’s Club Champion and the seven qualifiers will play a single elimination match play event in the Championship Flight.   The quarter and semifinals will be played on Saturday and the 18 hole final will be played on Sunday.   The A, B, C and D Flights, which are determined by handicap, will play a separate 36 hole stroke play event with 18 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.  Winners in the A, B and C flights will be determined by the low gross score.  The winner of the D flight will determined by the low net score.

  • Tournament Fee $5.00 per person

  • Prizes will be awarded for Gross scores for A,B and C Flights.  D Flight prizes will be awarded based on Net score.

 

August 9th - Member/Member - 1 Best Ball - Flighted

Playing with the partner of your choice, you will be placed into a flight based on your combined team handicap. Tee times will be assigned.

  • Pro Shop will group teams and assign starting times

  • Tournament Fee:  $5.00/player
     

August 15th - AB/AB & CD/CD Two Man One Best Ball *Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

Two man teams will be randomly set into AB/AB and CD/CD matches based on handicap.

  • Tournament *Fee: $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are award for Gross & Net for best front, best back and total.

August 22nd - President’s Trophy *Tournament of Champions Qualifier (B) (TC)

Based on your handicap, you will be put into a four man flight and will play an 18 hole ramble individual format with three 6-hole matches from assigned tees. The winner of each flight will advance to an 18-hole net play event on Saturday August 30th.  The winner of the President’s Trophy on Saturday the 30th will be determined by the lowest net score. Tee times will be assigned.

  • Winners of each flight qualify for the Tournament of Champions on September 22nd.

  • Winners from each flight qualify and play in the President's Trophy final on August 30th.

  • Sign up in advance by Sunday August 16th

  • Tournament *Fee: $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded to the 1st & 2nd place in each flight.

 

August 30th - President’s Trophy Finals (B)

The winner of each flight, from August 22nd advances to this 18 hole net individual play event.  The winner of the President’s Trophy will be determined by the lowest net score. Tee times will be assigned. The low net winners name is permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

  • Tournament Fee: none

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net

  • No Sign Up: Winners from each flight on Saturday August 22nd will play in this event.

SEPTEMBER

September 5th-7th - Pro’s Trophy (TC)

This is an individual 36 hole stroke play event.  You must play two of the three days over the Labor Day weekend.  Players must declare with the Pro Shop before teeing off that they are playing a round in the Pro’s Trophy. The winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

  • Sign up at the tee

  • Tournament Fee: None

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net

  • Must play from the Gold or Blue Tees to qualify for Net prizes.
    Please be sure to note tees played on your scorecard.

  • Must play with another member who will attest your scorecard.

September 5th-7th - 2 of 3 Day Member/Member

Sept 26th  –  Flighted Two Man Best Ball  (previously Fall Ramble) – Open (B)

Open means that you can sign up with another member, or you can invite a non RMC member to play.   All players must have a USGA Handicap to participate in the net event.  Format Change - Due to the overwhelming demand for tee times at Rockledge, holding a Fall Ramble would require too many tee times being used by the RMC and that is why we have been asked to amend the format of this event.  Sign up (non-members name, GHIN # and club please) - teams will be paired with another team, and tee times will be assigned.  The tournament will be set with flights based on the teams' combined handicap.

  • Tournament Fee: $ 5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for team Best Ball Gross & Net.

  • Additional Prizes for Closest to the Pin on all par threes

  • Tee Times will be assigned.

  • Handicap = 85% of Course Handicap

  • Standard Gold Tees - Unless otherwise requested.  You must notify the Golf Shop by Wednesday 5 PM if you will to play from a different tee.

    • If you are in Flight 1 or 2 – both players must play from the Gold or Blue tees to be eligible for Gross prizes.​

    • If you are in Flight 3 or higher - both players must play from the Gold or White tees to be eligible for Gross prizes.

 

OCTOBER

October 4th - Ryder Cup (B)

The field for this 18 hole event includes the top 36 players that have qualified by earning points by participating in the designated Ryder Cup (RC) tournaments throughout the 2020 golf season.  There will be two Ryder Cup teams (Nicklaus & Palmer), a captain will be named for each team.  The format will include a Team Match on the front nine (2 point matches) and Individual Matches on the back nine (1 point matches).  Teams with the most points win. Teams are drawn using player handicaps in an ABBAABBAABBA pattern.

Qualified players will be contacted by the Pro Shop to confirm their participation.

  • Winner takes all!  Only the winning team will receive prizes.

October 11th - Tournament of Champions (B)

An 18-hole modified Stableford scoring tournament. Quotas are established for each player. Quotas are created off the 2 point per hole and modified Stableford Point System (0-DB+, 1-B, 2-P, 4-Br, 6-E, 8-DE+) Quota Example: 18 hdcp – 36 Pt Basis, Quota for the player is 36 minus 18 handicap for a Quota of 18. Tee times will be assigned.

  • Pro's Trophy - Gross and Net Winners

October 20h - John Sevill Challenge (B) 

Sign Up or Re-Sign Up with the Pro Shop!  

This tournament is the final Tuesday/Friday event of the season, and is played in a scramble format.  Each player hits a drive, the best drive is selected. Each player then hits from that spot, you then select the best shot and once again play from that spot, repeat until the ball is holed on all 18.    

  • Sign up in advance in the Pro Shop

  • Teams and Tee Times will be assigned.

  • Tournament Fee $10.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for Gross & Net Teams.

(We will be unable to hold the traditional post play lunch and raffle this year.)

October 25th - Closer Shamble - Shotgun Start

There will be four and five man teams.  The Closer is played in a shamble format, which requires each player to hit a drive, the team picks the best drive and all players then play from that spot, until each holes out his ball.  Each player is usually required to hit a minimum number of drives. The one lowest gross and net score for each hole is the team score for that hole.

  • Teams will be assigned. Shotgun Start - Starting Time:  8:30a

  • Tournament Fee $5.00

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net Teams – Flighted by # of players per group (4 or 5)

(We will be unable to hold the traditional pre-tournament breakfast or post play hors d'oeuvres and raffle.)

NOVEMBER

 

November 1st – Greens Keeper Revenge and West Hartford Food Pantry Fundraiser

Sponsored by and open to both the Men's and Women's club.

This is an individual 18 hole Gross and Net event.   The grounds crew will take out their revenge by setting several pin positions that will be your worst nightmare! Make sure you bring all of your skills with you for this tournament! In addition we will be once again be raising funds for the West Hartford Food Bank. Please support the Food Pantry with a non-perishable food and/or cash donation at the Pro Shop.  You can make your own foursome or come as a single and you will be put in a group to play with.   Prizes will be awarded for gross and net but the real winner in this event is the West Hartford Food Bank!  A shotgun start will follow coffee and donuts.

** Qualifying for SR & Club Championships:  You must play in 4 events prior to sign up date of the event.  The 4 events played must include one (1) RMC scheduled event.  The rest can be made up from RMC events, Pro Shop events, or Tuesday/Friday events.  (Kickers is not a qualifying event)
