Reminder:  The Pro Shop will register your RMC Event scores in the GHIN system.

** Qualifying for SR & Club Championships:  You must have played in two (2) sign up in advance (listed above) and a minimum total of five (5) events (sign up in advance, Tues/Friday, or Pro Shop events) played prior to the event sign up deadline.

APRIL

April 10th - ABCD Red Tee * Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

You will enjoy easing into the new golf season with everyone playing from the Red Tees in the first event of the year.  This is a team one best ball gross and net event.  Each team will consist of one A, B, C and D player (designated by handicap). ABCD teams are assigned via blind draw.

    Please only sign up once.

  • Reminder:  You must be a registered member to play. 

  • Tournament Fee: $5.00 per person.

April 25th - Opener Scramble * Ryder Cup Points Event (RC) (Shotgun)

We will not be able to hold our traditional opener breakfast and meeting due to the current COVID status.

 

There will be four and five man teams, assigned via blind draw in the ABCD format.  The scramble format requires each player to hit a drive. The team then picks the best drive and all players then play from that spot, continuing to play the team's best shot in this format on every hole. Each player is usually required to hit a minimum number of drives. Prizes are awarded for both Gross & Net Teams for both 4 & 5 team categories.

MAY

May 1st - New Member Invitational

Take this opportunity to play with our new members and/or to invite and play with potential new members.

  • Format for this event TBD.

May 8th  –  Flighted Two Man Best Ball 

Sign up with a member of your choice, or as an individual and you will be paired with another member.  Teams will be paired with another team by the Pro Shop, and tee times will be assigned.  The tournament will be set with flights based on the teams' combined handicap.  

  • Sign up in advance.

  • Tournament Fee: $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for team Best Ball Gross & Net.

  • Tee Times will be assigned.

  • Handicap = 85% of Course Handicap

  • Standard Blue Tees - Unless otherwise requested.  You must notify the Golf Shop when you sign up if you plan to play from a different tee.

    • If you are in Flight 1 or 2 – both players must play from the Blue or Black tees to be eligible for Gross prizes.​

    • If you are in Flight 3 or higher - both players must play from the Black, Blue or White tees to be eligible for Gross prizes.

 

 

May 16th - Flighted Individual Stroke Play

Based on your handicap, you will be put into a competition flight of equivalent handicap opponents, and play for Gross & Net score.  The number of flights will be determined by the pool of registered players.

  • Sign up in advance.

  • Tournament Fee:  $5.00

  • Prizes:  Each Flight Gross & Net; 1st, 2nd & 3rd

  • Handicap:  95%

May 23rd - ABCD – Hot Ball * Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

This is actually two tournaments in one. The first is a regular team ABCD one best ball event. The second event is the “Hot Ball” tournament: on each hole one player on a team is given the “hot ball” and the score that player records is the hot ball score for that hole.  Each team member must play the hot ball a minimum number of times.  If the hot ball is lost, then your team is not eligible to post a score in the hot ball tournament, but is still eligible for the ABCD best ball.  Each team will consist of one A, B, C and D player.

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net Teams – Paid for both ABCD and Hot Ball Gross and Net scores

May 29th-31st - Rockledge Memorial Member/Member * Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

This is a 36 hole two man best ball event.  Your team must play two 18 hole rounds on two of the three days that this tournament is held over Memorial Day Weekend.  Teams must declare with the Pro Shop that they are playing a Memorial round before teeing off.  The gross and net with the winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House. Low gross and low net winners qualify for the Tournament of Champions on October 11th

  • Plan to play with another member/member twosome, or club member who will attest your score.

  • Sign up for a Tee Time on the Rockledge Tee Time system for your group.

  • Check In for Play and notify the Pro Shop that you are playing a Member/Member round.  Tournament Fees and any round fees must be paid by credit card.

  • Tournament Fee: $10.00 per person

  • Scorecard:  Clearly print First and Last Names, Enter Gross Scores, Play is from the Blue Tees, All players should sign the card, Turn in your card to the Pro Shop at the end of the round

  • Prizes are awarded for Gross and Net Teams.  
    The Member/Member play will be at 85% of handicap per new USGA rules.

May 29th-31st - Three One Day Member/Member Events (Fri, Sat, Sun)

Pick your own partner for these best ball gross/net events.  Each day is a separate event.

  • Make your own group (besides you and your partner,
    you must play with at least one other RMC member to attest your score)

  • Sign up at the Pro Shop (Pro Shop Event)

  • Tournament Fee $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net Teams

JUNE

June 5-6th - Individual Match Play * Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC) 

Based on your handicap, you will be put into a flight of six players and play five 9 hole match play matches over two days (27 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday). This event has proven to be one of the most popular of the year, and you will not want to miss it.

  • Tournament Fee: $15.00 per person includes bag lunch on day one

  • Prizes are awarded to the 1st & 2nd place in each flight.

June 13th  –  Flighted Two Man Team Challenge 

Sign up with a member of your choice, or as an individual and you will be paired with another member.  Teams will be paired with another team by the Pro Shop, and tee times will be assigned.  The tournament will be set with flights based on the teams' combined handicap.  Format:  Front Nine – Best Ball (play your own ball and the better of the two players score counts for the hole) / Back Nine – Modified Chapman (both players tee off, play each-others ball on the second shot, then choose the preferred ball and position and alternate shots, until you finish the hole (you must continue to alternate throughout the hole).

  • Prizes are awarded for team Best Ball Gross & Net.

  • Tee Times will be assigned.

  • Handicap = 85% of Course Handicap

June 19th – ABCD Aggregate Quota & 1 Best Ball Gross (RC)

Aggregate quota scores will be assigned to each ABCD team, and will be used for the Net Event. One best ball Gross will also be played. Quotas are established for each player and team. Quotas are created off the 2 point per hole and modified Stableford Point System (0-DB+, 1-B, 2-P, 4-Br, 6-E, 8-DE+). Quota Example: 18 hdcp – 36 Pt Basis, Quota for the player is 36 minus 18 handicap for a Quota of 18.  Add all 4 players quota to create team quota. For once in golf, the highest point total wins. ABCD teams and tee times assigned.

June 27th - West Hartford Amateur - Men's & Women's Open

Rockledge GC and the RMC Men's and Women's clubs will be hosting the West Hartford Amateur on Sunday June 27th.  The event will be open resident and non-resident men and women age 14 and up.  Men and women will be flighted into two age groups 14-54 and 55 and up.  Individual Net and Gross prized to be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, perhaps more depending on registration.  Two 50/50 prizes for closest to the pin will be awarded.  An active GHIN handicap is required.

JULY

July 3-5th - Sherman Memorial * Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

The second major event of the year, this is an individual 36 hole stroke play event. Players must declare with the Pro Shop that they are playing their Sherman Memorial round before teeing off. Play two 18 hole rounds on two of the three days of the Independence Day weekend. The gross and net with the winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

Low gross and low net winners qualify for the Tournament of Champions on October 11th

July 3-5th - Three One Day Member/Member Events (Fri, Sat, Sun)

July 10-11th - SR, Super-SR, Legends & Masters Club Championship *Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

36 holes of stroke play make up this Club Championship major event.  Prizes are awarded for gross and net.  Players drive from their assigned level tees. Seniors age 50-59, Super Seniors age 60-69. Legends age 70-79, Masters 80+. Each flight winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

  • Winners of each flight qualify for the Tournament of Champions on October 11th

July 18th - AB/AB & CD/CD Two Man One Best Ball * Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

Two man teams will be randomly set into AB/AB and CD/CD matches based on handicap.

  • Tournament Fee: $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are award for Gross & Net for best front, best back and total.

July 25th - Club Championship Qualifier (For Championship Flight Only)

The Championship Flight will play a match play format which includes the 2018 Club Champion and seven other players that qualify through this 18 hole medal play qualifier.  This is the ONLY way to qualify to play in the Championship Flight.  If you play in the qualifier and do not qualify for the Championship Flight, you may play in the Club Championship in the A, B, C, or D Flights, as determined by your handicap (see August 1-2 info below).

  • Prizes are awarded for individual Gross & Net​

July 31st-August 1st - Club Championship * Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

Last year’s Club Champion and the seven qualifiers will play a single elimination match play event in the Championship Flight.   The quarter and semifinals will be played on Saturday and the 18 hole final will be played on Sunday.   The A, B, C and D Flights, which are determined by handicap, will play a separate 36 hole stroke play event with 18 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.  Winners in the A, B and C flights will be determined by the low gross score.  The winner of the D flight will determined by the low net score.

AUGUST

August 8th  –  Flighted Two Man Best Ball 

Sign up with a member of your choice, or as an individual and you will be paired with another member.  Teams will be paired with another team by the Pro Shop, and tee times will be assigned.  The tournament will be set with flights based on the teams' combined handicap.

August 15th - ABCD 4 Ball - Best 2 Balls * Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

Each team is made up off four player in a blind draw be create the ABCD groups.   Each player plays their own ball, with the two best balls gross and net counting for the team score.

August 21st - President’s Trophy - Individual Ramble * Tournament of Champions Qualifier (TC)

Based on your handicap, you will be put into a four man flight and will play an 18 hole ramble individual format with three 6-hole matches from assigned tees. The winner of each flight will advance to an 18-hole net play event on Saturday August 29th.  The winner of the President’s Trophy on Saturday the 29th will be determined by the lowest net score. Tee times will be assigned.

  • Winners of each flight qualify for the Tournament of Champions on September 22nd.

  • Winners from each flight qualify and play in the President's Trophy final on August 30th.

August 29th - President’s Trophy Finals 

The winner of each flight, from August 21st advances to this 18 hole net individual play event.  The winner of the President’s Trophy will be determined by the lowest net score. Tee times will be assigned. The low net winners name is permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net

  • No Sign Up: Winners from each flight on Saturday August 21st will play in this event.

SEPTEMBER

September 4th-6th - Pro’s Trophy (TC)

This is an individual 36 hole stroke play event.  You must play two of the three days over the Labor Day weekend.  Players must declare with the Pro Shop before teeing off that they are playing a round in the Pro’s Trophy. The winner’s names are permanently placed on plaques in the Rockledge Club House.

  • Tournament Fee: $5.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for both Gross and Net

  • Must play from the Blue or Black Tees to qualify for Net prizes.
    Please be sure to note tees played on your scorecard.

  • Must play with another member who will attest your scorecard.

September 4th-6th - 2 of 3 Day Member/Member

Pick your own partner for this best ball event Play two 18 hole rounds on two of the three days of the Labor Day weekend.  Players must declare with the Pro Shop before teeing off that they are playing a round in this event.

Friday September 10th - Member Guest - Shotgun Start

Invite a guest and come join us at one of the best events of the year. Lunch, Raffle, Competitive Golf, Cocktails & Hors D'oeuvres and so much more fun. This event sells out every year, so if you are interested, please look for the sign up that comes out in June.

September 11th - ABCD (9 Hole Best Ball/9 Hole Modified Alternate Shot AD/BC) * Ryder Cup Points Event (RC)

This is a team ACBD one best ball event. Each team will consist of one A, B, C and D player from a blind draw.  The first nine will be played with each player playing their own ball.  The second nine will be alternate shot with the A and D players and the C and D players working together.  Players will hit tee shots, then alternate and hit their partner’s ball on the second shot.   After two shots, choose the best ball and alternate shot from that point until the hole is completed.​

September 19th - Flighted Individual Stroke Play

OCTOBER

October 3rd - Ryder Cup 

The field for this 18 hole event includes the top 36 players that have qualified by earning points by participating in the designated Ryder Cup (RC) tournaments throughout the 2021 golf season.  There will be two Ryder Cup teams (Nicklaus & Palmer), a captain will be named for each team.  The format will include a Team Match on the front nine (2 point matches) and Individual Matches on the back nine (1 point matches).  Teams with the most points win. Teams are drawn using player handicaps in an ABBAABBAABBA pattern.

Qualified players will be contacted by the Pro Shop to confirm their participation.

  • Winner takes all!  Only the winning team will receive prizes.

October 10th - Tournament of Champions 

An 18-hole modified Stableford scoring tournament. Quotas are established for each player. Quotas are created off the 2 point per hole and modified Stableford Point System (0-DB+, 1-B, 2-P, 4-Br, 6-E, 8-DE+) Quota Example: 18 hdcp – 36 Pt Basis, Quota for the player is 36 minus 18 handicap for a Quota of 18. Tee times will be assigned.

Qualifiers for this event include:

  • Individual Match Play Championship - Flight Winners

  • Sherman Memorial - Gross and Net Winners

  • Senior, Senior-Senior, Legends and Masters Championship - Gross and Net Winners

  • Pro's Trophy - Gross and Net Winners

October 12th - John Sevill Challenge 

This tournament is the final Tuesday/Friday event of the season, and is played in a scramble format.  Each player hits a drive, the best drive is selected. Each player then hits from that spot, you then select the best shot and once again play from that spot, repeat until the ball is holed on all 18.

  • Teams and Tee Times will be assigned.

  • Tournament Fee $10.00 per person

  • Prizes are awarded for Gross & Net Teams.

    (The traditional post play lunch and raffle will be held pending COVID status.)

October 16th - Fall Ramble (Open) - 27 Holes

Playing with the partner of your choice, you will be placed into a flight based on your combined team handicap.  Each flight will have four teams and you will play three 9-hole match play matches. Competition is handicapped in each match. Tee times will be assigned.

  • Sign up in advance - "Open":  Members may invite a non-member or guest to participate.  Each team must include at least one member.  If your guest has no USGA handicap, they will play at 0 handicap.

  • Tournament Fee: $20.00 per person, which includes a bag lunch.

  • Prizes are awarded to the 1st & 2nd place team in each flight.

October 24th - Closer Shamble - 7:30a Breakfast & Club Meeting ~ 8:30a Shotgun Start

There will be four and five man teams.  The Closer is played in a shamble format, which requires each player to hit a drive, the team picks the best drive and all players then play from that spot, until each holes out his ball.  Each player is usually required to hit a minimum number of drives. The one lowest gross and net score for each hole is the team score for that hole.

NOVEMBER

 

November 6th – Greens Keeper Revenge and West Hartford Food Pantry Fundraiser

Sponsored by and open to both the Men's and Women's club.

This is an individual 18 hole Gross and Net event.   The grounds crew will take out their revenge by setting several pin positions that will be your worst nightmare! Make sure you bring all of your skills with you for this tournament! In addition we will be once again be raising funds for the West Hartford Food Bank. Please support the Food Pantry with a non-perishable food and/or cash donation at the Pro Shop.  You can make your own foursome or come as a single and you will be put in a group to play with.   Prizes will be awarded for gross and net but the real winner in this event is the West Hartford Food Bank!  A shotgun start will follow coffee and donuts at the starting area.
